The YSEALI Professional Fellows Program is a highly coveted fully funded exchange program for some of the brightest young community leaders from ASEAN who are actively involved in the fields of civic engagement, NGO management, economic empowerment, governance, legislative process, environmental and natural resources management. The YSEALI Professional Fellows exchange program will provide participants with a month-long fellowship at a U.S.-based non-profit or other organizations, government offices or legislative bodies. Successful fellows will work with distinguished community leaders to improve their practical expertise, leadership skills and professional network needed to solve pertinent issues in their home communities.
The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is President Obama’s signature program to strengthen leadership development and networking in ASEAN, deepen engagement with young leaders on key regional and global challenges, and strengthen people-to-people ties between the United States and young Southeast Asian leaders.
- Applicants must be community leaders, aged 25-35, currently employed with at least two years of professional experience at the time of submitting an application;
- Applicants should have a track record of making an impact in their community, institution or company using well designed projects;
- Be proficient in spoken and written English at the time of application;
- Applicants should be citizens of, and currently residing in, one of the ten ASEAN member nations.
