Schwarzman Scholarship program is a fully funded scholarship program established mainly to address the geopolitical issues of the 21st Century. The first class will be welcomed in 2016. This fellowship program will afford the most talented young people around the world the unique opportunity to hone their leadership skills and professional networks through a one-year Master’s Degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing at one of China’s most prestigious universities.

The inaugural class that starts in summer 2017 will have a total of 125 scholars, however, the program will go on to have 200 students in subsequent years. 45% of the total first class will hail from the United States, 20% from China, and 35% from the rest of the world.
This is a full scholarship scheme that covers tuition and fees, room and board, travel to and from Beijing at the beginning and end of the academic year, an in-country study tour, required course books and supplies, lenovo laptop and smartphone, health insurance, and a modest personal stipend.
You are eligible to apply, if you possess undergraduate degree or first degree from an accredited college or university or its equivalent from any part of the world. However, applicants who are currently enrolled in undergraduate degree programs must be deemed on track to successfully complete all relevant requirements by 1 August 2017 before orientation begins. There are no requirements for a specific field of undergraduate study; all fields are welcome, but it will be important for applicants, regardless of undergraduate major, to articulate how participating in Schwarzman Scholars will help develop their leadership potential within their field.
Candidates should be least 18 but not yet 29 years of age as of 1 August 2017.
English language proficiency.
Interested applicants should demonstrate strong enough English language skills,since teaching will be done in English. If the applicant’s native language is not English, he/she has to send official English proficiency test scores via the application portal. Please see below for a list of acceptable test options:
- • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT)
- • Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT)
- • International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
However, this language requirement is waived for international applicants who graduated from an undergraduate institution where the primary language of instruction was English for at least three years of the applicant’s academic program.
How to apply:
Currently applications for 2017/2018 are open for international students from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macao. Applications for students from other countries will open on 15 April 2016.
To apply, you are expected to complete an online application form and submit necessary documents by the deadline. Applicants who possess passports from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macao can apply online from 23 March to 15 June 2016. Applicants holding a passport from any other country, can apply from 15 April to 15 September 2016.
