The Charlemagne Youth prize is awarded annually to young people committed to enhancing and developing European identity and proffering practical ways of fostering greater unity within the European community. Organized by the European parliament in collaboration with the foundation of the international Charlemagne Prize of Aachen, the prize seeks to further stimulate European consciousness through effective participation in projects aimed at harmonization of Europe
Prize to be awarded
- The overall best project goes home with €5,000
- The first runner up shall be awarded €3,000
- Third place project wins €2,000
The three top awardees shall be invited to the European parliament located in Brussels Strasbourg. Other projects that made it to the final round at national levels shall be invited for a tour which shall run for four days in Aachen. Presentation of award shall be done by the president of the European Parliament together with members of the foundation of the International Charlemagne prize Aachen
Selection criteria
- Individual or group projects are accepted but shall be submitted in only one country for group work
- Projects to be submitted must have been completed within a 12 month period prior to current deadline. Projects that have been started but yet to be completed are also accepted
- Only applicants within 16 – 30 years of age are eligible
- Applicant(s) must come from one of the 28 member countries of the European Union

Method of application
- First complete the an application form which you will find online
- A form containing a declaration of the applicant shall be filled and submitted
- A full and clear description of project and other relevant attachment including pictures and detailed description
- Irrespective of file format chosen, there must be a Microsoft word document of the project. As much as possible attach, attach more than one file
- Project should be submitted in one language for clarity
- An executive summary of your project highlighting the main features of the project should be submitted, because this is the first thing to be examined by the Judges
- For group work, the project must be submitted in one country
- When you have supplied all necessary information, hit the submit key and then proceed to print a copy of your application
