The Mandela Rhodes Foundation scholarships hopes to build exceptional and desirable leadership capacity on the African continent (whilst also seeking to foster better reconciliation and entrepreneurship) by investing in various programmes and, to this end, becoming a leading protagonist in Africa for such endeavours. A Mandela Rhodes Scholarship will allow an accepted Scholar to study at a prestigious South African tertiary institution duly registered with the South African Council on Higher Education for an accredited postgraduate degree programme. The Scholarship is awarded for one or a maximum of two years, currently for an Honours or Masters degree.
Eligible Level: Masters Degree only
Area of Study: You are eigible to study any accredited degree program.
Scholarship Amount: The Scholarship awarded will cover the cost of a Scholar as follows:
-Tuition and registration fees as set by the institution;
-A study materials allowance as set by the MRF;
-Accommodation and meal allowances as set by the MRF;
-A medical aid allowance as set by the MRF;
-Economy-class travel allowance for international Scholars only from the Scholar’s home to their institution at the beginning and back home at the end of their degree programme;
The following criteria will be applied in the selection of Mandela Rhodes Scholars:
-The Scholarship is open to citizens of all African countries;
–The Scholarship is purely for postgraduate study at a South African university or tertiary institution (Honours and Masters degrees only);
-If you fall between the ages of 19 and 30 years at the time of taking up the Scholarship, you are eligible to apply.
-Africans should reflect in their character a commitment to the four principles of Education, Reconciliation, Leadership and Entrepreneurship;
–Applicants should have a track record of sterling above average academic results.
